Can't change time signature on MPC One Plus

Hi,
I now have the MPC One Plus

I am amazed that there is no way to change the time signature out of 4/4

My firmware is 3.4.1

Question - If I upgrade to 3.5, is this problem sorted?

Or (if the answer is no), can I retrofit an old firmware release to allow time signature change?

Go back to 2.0. Time sigs are coming to 3.0 later - whatever the hell that means.

Is it correct that the Force can do this and even freely set last step of a track within a sequence while independent track length on the MPCs is by bars .. correct?

The Force is still stuck at 4/4 but each track has 999 clips & clip can range from 24 ticks upto 12,600 bars. You can take clip that fo example is 8 bars & set the loop points to odd ranges like 2.1 bars or whatever.

Preferences > Project Defaults

You can also use 'INSERT BARS' to insert bars with different time signatures.

MPC 1+ - V. 3.5.0 Still no way to change time signatures? I desperately need to write in 6/8 time for whole project. Any workarounds yet? Thanks.

Yes, the workaround right now is to either downgrade your MPC OS or use another groovebox that actually does what you need.

Another workaround could be to consider a whole 4/4 bar as an eighth-note. Then by having six of these you will have a ”6/8 bar”, but with much higher resolution. You would of course also have to raise the tempo considerably to make this work.
This way, what you are in effect doing is changing the bar and beat divisions. 24 bars of this at a higher tempo would equal 4 bars of 6/8. It’s just the grid resolution that changes.
This would also allow you to add other time signatures in your music like 5/8, 7/8 and so on.

A downside is if you are recording to a metronome. This will sound in an extremely fast way which is annoying.
What I do is I create a basic drum pattern manually by drawing in notes in the grid - 1 sound per bar - as a template that I use instead of the metronome

THanks Logrinn for the idea. Can't see that working as I want to record music live from a keyboard. IT seems very unprofessional to release a new version with a massive hole in the specs like this. The notion of downgrading is also ridiculous, as It'll be losing other features that I use. Akai need to fix it and stop thinking We're all 4/4 head bangers. Very unhappy Akai user. Back to my trusty Ableton live I guess.

It could be an idea, but changing bpm will result in most of clipped samples in keygroups sound weird or messed up.
