Does anyone know if you can hit the hardware pads to trigger / use the fx in flexbeat? Not looking for more touchscreen controls.. hitting pads = fun.

https://www.reddit.com/r/AkaiForce/comm ... _is_great/ offers a hack based on Pad Macros:

1 - Put Flex Beat on an insert
2 - Go to pad macros (SHIFT + KNOBS)
3 - Go to edit macro (EDIT + one of the pads)
4 - Map the Pattern parameter like this: leave the minimum at 1, max at any value you want to trigger, enable TRIGGER MAX
5 - Repeat for all the patterns you want to trigger
6 - Enjoy your performance FX

I didn't know the MPC had pad macros. I thought it was just the Force. Did they recently add it or was it always there?

**** me - I stumbled upon that after reading your question and, ignorant of the Force, I imagined that it would apply to the MPC too. No MPC at hand this week, so I haven't looked...

I'm pretty sure the MPC doesn't have that feature, but you can check the manual to make sure.

That's too bad. It's a really great feature to have. I like to assign them as track mutes/solos. On the Force you'll have 64 pads to mute all in one place. Some pads you can assign multiple tracks to mute/solo. I hope they bring this & the 64 envelope followers to the MPC.

In theory you can do it on an external controller. I have a Novation Launchkey which has 16 pads that can each be assigned to a midi CC and specific value. You can then use the midi mapping on the MPC to assign the pads to control the pattern.

I hope they make it possible to do what you suggest though. A mode where the 16 pads can trigger the 16 Flex patterns would be great.

that's exactly how i did it with a novation launch pad x, one of the 4 16pad sets is mapped to a flexbeat on the main out and another pad set to the flexbeat on a specfic submix.

That's good to know. But how would the crossfader macro work on the MPC? Is for connecting an external crossfader or maybe a new MPC will have it & it can make using MPCs without it more compatible?
