I'm importing work I made in MPC2 into MPC3 that had plugins with selected chord progressions (I'm using a MPC One).

It took me a while to figure out when the pads were not responsive, nor lit up. They were referring to a chord progression from MPC2 that no longer exists in MPC3! Ouch.

How can I add the MPC2 chord progressions back, so I can get the imported material working again? At present I don't even know what the progression was, as the name of the progression no longer exists in MPC3.

Someone said download MPC Beats, it has the MPC2 progressions, that can be transferred to standalone. Unfortunately over a couple of month of entering my details into the download link (with two different emails, one gmail the other not) I still have not reviewed a download link from Akai to Beats. Someone else said if you've used the MPC in controller mode it will have transferred the progression to the computer - but I haven't used it in controller mode!

Where can I find the chord progressions from MPC2 ?? Help!!

Ok well I looked back at my purchases at InMusic to see if I could get Beats that way somehow, and I'd already bought MPC 2.15.1 desktop software! - at least a year ago, had the serial there etc.

So downloaded it (for the first time). Copied the Progressions folder (279KB) over to the sd card I use in the MPC One, and now imported MPC2 files into the MPC3 see the 'old' selected MPC2 progressions, the pads light up and all is good.

If anyone else is having this issue, there should be a way to download the Progressions folder easily, without having to download Beats, which has been impossible for ages! or have to purchase MPC2 desktop software. If I could attach the 279KB folder here I would!

ooh yes, work well, many thanks, and they appear in their own J6 folder, neat! ...while the original MPC2 progressions get mixed up in the new MPC3 progression theme folders ...no way I can get them into their own folder within the progression list, an MPC2 folder, like the J6 folder?

I recommend the excellent J-6 Chord Finder. I wish we had something like that for MPC... I'm attempting to vibe code it using ChatGPT and Claude - maybe I'll have a proof of concept in a few days.

Well, here is a preview - the current iteration of the Akai MPC Chord Progression Finder - buggy as hell, but work in progress - depending on LLM free availability ! Don't hesitate to fork it !

At the moment, a progression matches if it contains any of the selected chords - that is a bug, I'll correct it tomorrow: it should be AND, not OR.

(...sorry Jean-Marc I couldn't figure out how to get your individual quote into the normal embedded format)

Yes, and I read many people thought the MPC2 progressions were more interesting than those in MPC3 ...I have no angle on that, but to get my progression selection carried over from MPC2 saved files, I had to add the MPC2 progressions to the sd card in the MPC running MPC3 - now all good. Plus I've opened up my knowledge that even more progressions can be added - so in the course of a day I've now got too many! Anyway glad to get the MPC2 progressions back into MPC3 world.
