Now in beta test, behold the free Akai MPC Chord Progression Finder !
Evidently inspired by the excellent Roland J-6 Chord Finder... I wished we had something like that for MPC, so I vibe coded it - first using using ChatGPT, which is rather badly unstable at that sort of work (though I found it useful to critique Claude's production) and then with Claude Sonnet, whose results speak for themselves.
Code available on Github under the Unlicense license - patches welcome.
Funnily I don't have the MPC factory progressions at hand, so I tested with the "2,294 scales as Chord Progressions converted from Reaper .reascale file" and with the Roland J-6's chord sets converted as an archive of MPC .progression JSON files... The days of the Roland J-6 as a MIDI controller in my setup are now counted - the MPC does much better on its own !
My testing hasn't been systematic, so I guess you'll find bugs - please report them, here or preferably on Github. In particular, tell me if it works with the MPC factory progressions !
