Anyone know what this is for?

Just picked up a used MPC Key 61, and I heard something rattline around inside. Opened it up and I found this. It's about 2.5cm/1 inch long. Glad its out before it shorted something, but I'm also a bit concerned that it might be important and need to be reinstalled. Can anyone identify it and where it should go?

do the holes line up with the input jacks as it looks like it should be a backing plate for them
