Fabric XL, worth the money?

Hi there,

I'm thinking of buying Fabric XL for my Force. Downloaded the trail version, and was wowed by it!

Nice sounds, most of them useful. First considered bying either the Triton VST for my PC to use in my productions, or even an old Korg Triton. But I think lot of the Korg sounds are more then nice, but not always useful in a production. I think that Fabric XL stands out here.

Anyone of you have Fabric XL, and how do you like it? Or maybe did the trail version and have thoughts about it?

The thing is, 'worth the money' depends on the time of year, because Akai price all their plugins are unrealistically high RRPs, just so they can heavily discount them during sale periods and look like you are getting bargain of the century.

So currently, it seems to be $250 everywhere, but a few weeks ago (summer sale) it was $49, potentially less as most sites have at least 10% promo codes floating around. So at $45, it's a decent enough rompler, albeit very RAM hungry and patches can take a long time to load when browsing through them.

I use the non XL Fabric a lot since it covers many different instruments very well. I could switch to XL later - You might have to resample or whatever If XL takes too much power. So if you like Fabric & want a better sounding version than get it next its on sale.

I did notice the long load time while scrolling thru the presets.

It is indeed pricy in this moment, so maybe I just wait 'till the next sale......

Fabric is a rompler out of the many many that akai offers for their standalones. It has some nice waveforms to choose out from, I use it for pads and such. Didn't like the choirs and physical instrument presets. I guess you could wait for an offer (akai does them frequently) to get it.
