You all think that the lack of firmware updates last months has been due to AKAI wanting to wait and release a stable firmware together with the MPC Live 3?

Because surely the MPC 3 firmware should still be the same for MPC Live and MPC Live 2 based on the new direction and focus? Why else would they make such a radical jump from MPC 2 to MPC 3 firmware?

Akai's MPC team are just busy working on three fronts (MPC3, Force 3, and MPC Software 3). Takes time, especially as I assume they are trying to tackle some deep routed issues in the entire ecosystem (e.g. lack of time sig changes, fundamental MIDI bugs etc). I don't think it's deeper than that.

Of course it's possible that the new hardware might be bringing something more radical that needs serious work, but I doubt it. Would be nice to see MPE support, with push 3 style pads.

some dude on gearspace posted the following:

Spoke with sales team at Alto. The MPC Live 3 ships in October and sales made through Alto before they were able to remove it will be honored. If you see the specs/description and you want to cancel, they will refund of course.

some peeps are saying the reveal will be this Thursday apprently these are the colour options

This is clearly a joke. You don’t actually believe this, right?

What gave it away? The clearly sarcastic color choices or the double price of the retro? lol

There was a seller on Reverb that had photos of the live 3, but he’s since taken them off of the ad. I wish akai would just drop the new firmware already REEEEEEE!

This was from the listing on Reverb.

    4.1kg (720g heavier than the Mk 2)
    7" touchscreen
According to someone who ran it through AI, it says it's a tilted screen
And we know from the FCC line drawing that the dimensions are similar to the Mk 2.

720g is quite a lot, so possibly multiple new hardware features, such as bigger battery, more Qlinks, more I/O. etc.
