The main reason why I picked the Force is because it's just like the MPC OS, but with clips & now in Force OS3.5, we have 128 seqs & MPC song mode. Each seq has their own arranger, so more long-winded workarounds to make up for the only having 1 arranger! The JJOS came out like year after I got my 1k & was on larking on here reading all the info about it. Damn, that's almost 20 years ago... & this site is still going strong & we're still craving new MPCs! :smoker:

The one MPC I hated and sold was the MPC2500. I loved JJOS3 wish I kept it now.. I never like the converters compared to my 3000 & 2000 .. at that time akai was stagnant. So went all in on maschine studio and Komplete Kontrol keyboard.. that was the biggest music mistake I made.. and back to akai.. yes I still call them AKAI.. I was a sucker again and bought Kontrol mk3 and it collects dust.. well it a place holder for my keyboard :-D :-D

Aside from the additional RAM, do you really think Akai would release an alleged successor to the Live 2… with worse specs than the existing Key 61? ;)

I am confused.

I didn't say the Live III will have worse spec than the Key 61. I only said I don't expect it to be better.

It could have more RAM, but I expect it to be 4GB. What they really need to increase is the internal stoare if I read the chart.

Perhaps they add 4 more CV outs to match the Key 61.

Did the Live II users ever ask for a level meter? I imaging that one might come in handy in a live situation.

Anyways, if the business decisions of Akai are as weird for hardware as for software I don't expect anything but suprises. ;)

Well I’m confused by your post as well. You said that you didn’t expect the (alleged) Live 3 to have better hardware specs than the Key 61. I took that to mean CPU (SoC), RAM, etc. I was merely pointing out that such a notion seems unrealistic.

Errrr… whut?? Better CPU/RAM? Because literally everything else is subjective IMHO.

I traded 1k for the 2500 with JJOS XL on 9/11/2008 from Armen's. I remember because I forgot it 9/11 until I got to Midtown Manhattan. Loved that thing! Mines is corrupted now but the other 1k I got in 2021 is still kicking ass when necessary!

Based in the sound test I've heard, there's not much difference between the 2k & 2500, but the dual filters on 1 pads was a step up.

And enough CPU to make Stems and Warping Quality Blossom!

I'll Cop It Immediately

Sounds like a laptop with some controller to me, i.e. everything you can already have for like 500 bucks today.
Just put your daw of choice on autostart and you won't notice a difference :-D

That's Exactly what it is...Hopefully It'll be fast as a Laptop, with some "Kind Of" Drum Pad Controller. We're Team Standalone Over Here Bruh lol. So Hopefully your Prediction is correct

I can't believe that after akai giving a paperweight of a firmware to their patrons that there is anyone still left willing to buy the next MPC. I wont be buying one. Not out of spite or anything just cus it's likely a bad investment.

Back when a lot of us got our modern mpcs, they were incredible but now their work is going to shit. I personally got an MPC for the MPC workflow so to take that away from me really made me reevaluate whether i want to continue investing in akai. It also made me question if akai really understands their demographic of users who've only came this far with the modern akai because it kept the legacy flow.

The whole "arranger" thing is fkn retarded all it needed to be was a visual representation of our structured song. you know like when you format the tune before rendering it in the song window... instead of doing any real work they want to merge force and mpc into one thing and it is subtracting hard from the mpc.

the flashy colors and silly addons arent enough to compensate for whats been destroyed.

Cmon back to 2.x and become a legacy snob today! Make music fast and better.

so curious about what the next os update will entail. theyre tripping over themselves trying to make another buck while not even finishing what they started almost 2 years ago.

I'm guessing we haven't gotten any updates because they are optimizing and going to launch the live 3 with the update.

same here... I gave up on MPC, hence I had a small break on this forum.
Personally, there is absolutely nothing exciting that would made me buy anything from this company in the near future. I guess I'm still a bit salty about the midi bug and the fact that "if" it gets fixed, it will get fixed in 3.x which I never signed for during the purchase. F*ck them for now, no matter how much turkish teeth Andy will praise the "classic MPC workflow" in his another video misleading people...
At this point I'm more excited by that Elektrons "Toneverk" thingy than whatever akai will pull out their asses.

I did the jump from Live II to a force (i don't make hiphop anymore and I have a 1000 if i want to make any) and the OS3 makes much more sense in this device because of the button shortcuts.

I am not going to comment on some long lasting bugs that persist after almost a decade, despite akai releasing numerous and big updates but I hope that Live 3 will be much more tailored hardware wise to accommodate the features of OS3.

oh, yeah, still got my JJOS2XL loaded 1K here, was thinking of getting force again (had one ages ago) as well but the more i'm looking at that elektron device the more i'm getting inclined of getting it lol. on the paper it seems to be a revised octatrack :

8 stereo audio channels, keygroups, autosampler, tons of FX and other stuff - need to wait for loopop video but I think, I might start on saving on other stuff
EDIT:
seems like the website is down but not to worry, I have it saved along with the images :P

The Force is the MPC from the future. I'm curious to see if they adapt the new Live to better fit OS3. At least give the Qlink knobs those little screens. After spending hours creating macros, I would hate to work with them. 4 more knobs on the Live 3 would be crazy!

That Tonverk thingy sure looks interesting and feature packed.
Why elektron doesn't slap a slider and 8 track buttons on it, name it Octatrack MK3 and see everyone losing their shit is quite strange. That box looks like a prematurely born octatrack !
