Finally got my first modern MPC few days ago (refurbed MPC X SE, only $1455 after taxes)
(was MPC60 user for +10 years, then got S2400 [which I hardly/never used and didn’t like], then finally sold S2400 recently, then got the X SE).
First modern MPC… so din’t really know what to expect.
Was kinda expecting chintzy thin plastic, cheap feeling & light, cuz modern.
Shts really nice tho; def exceeded my expectations. Thick plastic for case, feels very durable & robust. I think perhaps as robust as my old steel MPC60.
Hand-rest is nice & plush, sides be rubber coated.
Pads & buttons nice as MPC60.
Q-link knobs very nice, firm, smooth feel.
Little OLEDs above Q-link knobs super nice too.
Sht prolly nicest machine I ever owned, lol. Feels like a Lexus.
Prolly most exciting item I got since when I first got MPC60 a while back (first getting S2400 was exciting too… but, the known capabilities of this X SE makes it more exciting).
Made in Taiwan too.
I’m also just happy I got rid of dat nice, but incapable (midi-sequencer-wise) S2400; and finally returned to MPC land, lol. Modern one too… been wanting to try one for years (always been intrigued by it from YT videos & tuts for years).
I know there’s supposed to be a new Live3 coming soon (as well as maybe a new X further down). But, def can’t afford those, lol.
Live3 was already leaked from a store to be $1700 (older Live2 was $1300 MSRP).
X SE better fit for me tho. As I want all the outputs and I/O (I use a Mackie 24ch mixer), 16 Q-link knobs, bigger tilt-able screen, etc.
The upcoming X flagship most likely gonna be way higher than my X SE’s $2500 MSRP. Most likely $3000-3200 I bet.
Also bought the MPC3 Bible.
Already know the basic MPC workflow from old MPC60… but, I don’t know how to navigate da modern MPC, capabilities, tricks, etc.
I’m still in early pages, set up, navigation chapters, etc.. Good thing I got… def woulda been lost.
Very nice course so far… it’s exciting & mad easy. Def worth it.
Def gives 100x more confidence than tryin to figure it out yourself, getting lost or using random YT vids (vids too fast sometimes & hard to see a small lcd screen in a video …always having to rewind or pause.
Also, most YT tuts/vids not logically ordered, just a mess of vids to search for.
This course… take your time, do as much as u want per session. No rush.
Written for retards, mad simple… genius idea for a course.
