lol, you might be one of the last of a dying breed. 99% of people I know have at least some kind of basic what you could call "listening setup" with something something sitting between the MPC and the turntable.

Yeah, I should’ve been clearer — by “mixer” I meant anything sitting between the turntable and the MPC. I’ve seen people run little standalone preamps into a desktop mixer or rack unit, don't think I've seen anyone plugging it directly :?

My turntable has a ground that I attach directly to my Live II. No mixer needed.

I dunno man - at least in the US, as recent as 2023, streaming music accounted for 84% of U.S. music industry revenue. I realize vinyl has a hipster resurgence in popularity, but it’s just too inconvenient for true music consumption. Numbers don’t lie.

People so caught up in shit they don’t care or forget others don’t work the same way. Whether popular or niche, there is always a market.
Elitist “this only/that only” thinking only represents a part.

Indeed. And I’d surmise that Akai is smart enough to do their own market research to determine if modern MPC’s still need phono inputs. I can assure you - if the bean counters saw that they could save money by cutting the hardware since users don’t use it or want it, they absolutely would.

Yea.

Phono inputs would have not been implemented in the first place had it not been for, samplist with turntables. And not everyone prefers a turntable with a pre-amp. Most I know prefer a pre-amp of their own choosing they can control, even tube pre-amps even.
