Roland is hitting with an XL groovebox, and Akai is going all in on Live 3 …
no sign of the Yamaha RS9000 nor a Korg Electribe Pro ...

and I assume Arturia is waiting on stealing everyone's thunder.


The last few days have been a marketing battle...

I am very much into digital sound/modular techniques, and to have this in a portable sampler is a dream for me. I jive with the design (even though the others have yet to spectre) I just resonate with it …

although I'm sure I may pick up any of these new releases, as I'm sure they are all competitively inspired and are all superstar instruments by the standards of yesterday …

It's a great time for MPC users and new customers.. looks like it going to grab alot of customers now.. from techno and all genres.. other platforms now will have to compete.. again I'm going to wait until the X comes out.. to many small buttons that I don't want to have to but my glasses on to see

AFAIK it's a Roland TR-1000, basically analogue + digital + a bit of sampling, but certainly not a MC909 MKII or a RS7000 MKII ...

The closest to either now is really the Force right, despite its limitations... no phrases but clip matrix, and the Force does have scenes like the RS7000.

By the way I bought a MC808 again 2 years ago, which has the same sequencer as the MC909. Unfortunately, it's more tedious to use than I remembered, since one cannot switch from step sequencing to real time recording live for instance, without pressing stop at some point. So I don't see myself buying a MV8000 or MV8080 again either, I know I won't be using it much...

I'm curious as to what new sequencing function this TR-1000 will bring in...

The TR8S allows editing one pattern while another is running. This is definitely a function I'd like to see on other grooveboxes.

I got the TR-8S I think it sound great. The Force has clips instead of phrases & kinda prepared me for the Force clip-matrix. The RS is better as sequencer in some ways. But I don't really need those extra things & you gotta keep stopping the sequencer to make certain kinda of edits or even going some menus. But an actual modern RS would be a problem for many companies.

Does anyone else find it very strange that NONE of the usual MPC youtubers (Bolo, Tefty, Accurate etc) have not even aknowledged the MPC Live III ????
They haven't even mentioned it in passing, any other time ANYTHING happens about MPC's they're all over it, throwing up videos about any old rumour.

This tells me that they already have one and are either working on a launch video or have done one and are just waiting for the embargo end on October 2nd....which is of course on a "Thursday" Akai's favourite day to launch stuff.

Next thursday all their videos will hit the fan

Yeah that's definitely what it is. Everyone's gonna drop their videos and reviews October 2nd. And since it's InMusic, I'm guessing they'll be available in stores the same day. I'll definitely be at Red One first thing that morning lol.

I'm was kinda surprised Akai didn't change the release date, since we have so much info now... but moving it up a week would be pretty short notice for anyone who's reviewing it or making a video about it.
