Btw... what's the "pro pack" ... is that the same as the new 3.6 FW? Is the 3.6 FW free?

Just download 3.6 on your MPC and you can immediately see which features are still supported natively. The pro pack is an optional paid add on, just like stem separation is, just like all the premium plugins are. It adds some of the new features that are otherwise exclusive to the Live 3.

Looks/sounds like a massive upgrade! Kudos to Akai for the constant evolution

It’s not for me as I wouldn’t use 90% of the new features. interested to see how people utilize all the bells and whistles to make better music. I can see the obvious improvement for live performances though

mark me down as somebody who wants a new improved “studio” controller also. There are dozens of us!!! lol

Hmm. I don't see how modulating sample start point could change anything anyway once the key is pressed. Unless I'm missing something. Modulating one or both loop points however would, and that was what I thought the ambiguous feature description by Akai possibly meant.

So the 4 part pads have nothing to do with launching clips...

i.e. this isn't like the Force.

You guys finally have most the main exclusive Force features, but the force still make for a better midi keyboard & the 64 pads are independent where as on the Live3 the pads regions are connect to the same pad. This may not matter to some, but it is a difference. Plus, you can use all 64 pad sections to trigger the clips. If you never really used the Force you can't understand how much of luxury is to use compared to even this new thing in some ways.

The X2 will be even more Force like than a Live. No current X user will be happy giving up 16 Qlinks each with a screen. I hope there a new MPC32/64 with all that plus a crossfader & a touchstrip. Akai need to tell us what else they have on the menu because after they made all those different MPCs, I doubt this will be it for next 8-10 years.

You can use the 16 pads as a 4x4 clip-matrix. It even has the Force Navigation windows. Kina cute. This will only make MPC users appreciate the Force once they start jamming the clips.

Looking at the FCC breakdown images of the Live III, each pad clearly has 4 independant contacts, making literally 64 separate pads. It just so happens that each group of 4 pads is located under 1 large rubber pad. That doesn't mean that said pads can't act exactly like 64 separate pads. So maybe that would be a great feature request....

Beats that groove between 4/4 and 6/8 are a thing. Which is why it was super annoying that on the previous OS even with the ability to have different time sig per sequence, if you chained them in song mode and bounced it the resulting sequence would be all messed up. Legacy machines do this flawlessly.
I realize some people think swing is just a parameter to tweak
Akai fixed this bug by abandoning song mode altogether lol.
