That's actually not a bad workaround- better than doing maths for the previous version! You just have to remember to set the time signature to 1/4 at the start of the project if you have any intention of having any changing times- if you started the project in 4/4 and then decided to stick a few bars of 6/8 in I'm guessing that wouldn't work..

It's a shame time signatures are for all sequences- I'm sure lots of producers like to chain a bunch of sequences in different time signatures or just have the ability to stick a bar or 3/4 in once in a while.

Is there a way around this?

Sort of ...

I created a sequence consisting of 7/4+5/4+4/4+4/4.
How?
By setting the time signature to 1/4. I then started by making a 4 "bar" drum sequence - ie what will sound like a normal bar. Then duplicated this a couple of times so I had 32 "bars" ie what sounds like 8 "normal " bars.
Now it's a simple matter of deleting bars here and there and programming the drums to sound like you want.
By removing bar 8, the first 7 bars (remember it's only 1/4) sounds like a 7/4 "bar".
I then removed 3 bars to make the following 8 bars sound like a 5/4 "bar",
And kept the last 16 bars - which sound like two 4/4-bars.

If that makes sense ...

So, yes, there's a workaround.

:Sigh:
Beats that groove between 4/4 and 6/8 are a thing.

^ i like this sound, an example house of rising sun. the compound metre gives you the extra metre 1-4-1-4. where the 4:4 ends up hitting. It's a swingy-er swing. I forgot that doubling the tempo doesnt equate to a compound metre. not even with swing applied. I had some folks here straighten me out on that and started doing tests and realised i never notice it because im playing those segments on live gear and recording it in cheating the system.

Looking at the FCC breakdown images of the Live III, each pad clearly has 4 independant contacts, making literally 64 separate pads. It just so happens that each group of 4 pads is located under 1 large rubber pad. That doesn't mean that said pads can't act exactly like 64 separate pads. So maybe that would be a great feature request.... ;)

That would be a great request, but even if it was granted, I'd still want a Force/X merge unit with the knob screens, a crossfader & a touchstrip. Idk, how they would do the MPCe/3D pads? Maybe 16 bigger pads, like 4x the size of the Force pads. I still like how we can use the 64 pads as a 4 octave piano & to trigger clips across 8 tracks & the little 64 pads on the MPC may not be ideal for piano mode & it can only be used as 4x4 clip matrix.

Cosign! 16 pads like the MPC Live 3, plus 64 plus the Launch buttons :) and don't scrimp on those 16 or MORE Q-Links. 8 touch strips like the APC 64 (reminds me of my MPC 4000 sliders, used to love rocking those sliders live) and don't forget the Step Sequencer Strip and place them better since there isn't a speaker on the X. I should be able to program the step sequencer, while triggering clips, and playing some drums on the pads at the same time, with Q-Link Knobs and touch strips available for tweaking.

Keep the buttons on the top & out of the way until they're needed. The Force 8 function buttons get hit by mistake. Also, the track select buttons on top better mirrors how it's looks on the screen.

I can’t imagine how this must look lol.

They literally met all my demands... i'm blown away. The right hardware, the seemingly right software configuration, new pad system to manage clips and hits -which i personally never saw coming. that shit is outta left field! dope. There is some "next level" sense of wonder there.

Amazing new update and a very interesting future to look forward to!

They didn't add my one big request....HDMI (video) out but I was wondering as the new model now has USBC, would it be possible to use a USBC-HDMI adapter to get an output for a larger screen?
Maybe someone who gets the Live III and has such an adapter could test it. I'm presuming it needs to be connected internally but laptops can do this via USBC so maybe the Akai can if it's all on the same board inside????

Anyone technical have an answer?

No idea. Just wanted to chime in on the HDMI and mouse support issue. I fully agree it would be very helpful, particularly when editing in the ants' tailored arranger. I struggle to see how Akai implementing it and adding two connections could be an issue for those who fail to see a need for it. The "just use a computer instead" argument is strange at best. As if the point with hardware is to struggle to comprehend and manage complex arrangements on tiny screens.

APC Mini Mk2 would be the best cost/function.

I fear that the external clip controller issue is the same as Flexbeat's
