MPC Live 3 being listed for sell!

Now the hype has died off

Akai defo came with good internal power for the next gen MPC

And it seems they have delivered all things for all people; the new fans and the old traditional Akai heads seem happy with the new device.

But the over bright lights and the clutter of buttons some dont like; As Live 1 user the Live 3 seems worthy upgrade; but I think the X and the MPC One have a form factor that better supports lots of buttons.

Probably by 3.8 the v3 software will mature; but I will stay on 2.x on Live 1; and when they come with the new X or new One; that will be the time I jump into the v3 world.

I think we will see the new X in the first half of 2026; between May and June.

But thinking the next gen One and whatever else they have on the next gen menu wont come until 2027

but Visual EQ's spectral display is broken. It's not accurate at all.

That’s pretty disappointing considering it’s also a paid upgrade. Once I saw that it was the multibank filter ported over I had concerns about that since that was just a visual gimmick

So how is the Pro Reverb? Any new interesting modulation destinations/targets?

They definitely will release the X before the One to try to get as many sales as they can out of it. I'm more interested in those molds more than the live, although honestly.. they packed a lot in the live I'm not sure I would care bout the X/One. The main thing bout the X is the feel. The encoder feels like an Mpc. The Live/One don't really. They feel cheap even though they are not, it's just the way they made them feel. I think I will wait it out for awhile since Akai usually has a bunch of underlining issues along with there fixes. It sometimes just takes awhile for people to notice one thing broke when another got fixed.

Someone test the latency please.
Specifically the latency of the pad to sound and the latency of external midi sequencing and being sampled in. Also do the Akai plugins cause latency like they did before or does this new hardware/software actually address that. Those are people the most important to me since the midi on/off bug has been apparently fixed.

If the Visual EQ is not accurate than that is a major disappointment, but also.. sadly I expected something like that. If they just get a proper spectrum analyzer, stereo imager, oscilloscope or stuff like that, that actually is useful when making music, I would appreciate it.

I bought the Live 3 with the intention of buying the new X when it comes and getting rid of the live,. But they packed so much into the Live 3 that I'm trying to figure out why i would buy an X other than a bigger screen. The layout of the buttons are so much better than people gave it credit for. Akai is going to have go all balls to the wall to convince people to buy an X.

As an owner of the X you less menu and button diving larger screen and more qlinks.. better for us old people

Looking for a hard case, nothing specific for the Live 3 yet (that I can find), but just noticed the toraiz sp 16 is almost the exact same dimensions (identical width, 5mm deeper, 6mm higher), so pretty sure most case for this will work fine for the Live 3, or easily modded for a tight fit.

SW listed an optional bundle w/ the Gator GU-1813-06-WPDF case.

I'm curious... can you set these new MPCe pads to just play/work like normal (I guess "legacy" now) pads?

Am I the only one thinking this... I have a feeling a lot of people will over-over-use this X/Y MPCe pad feature, and use it for every single sound, one-shot, hi-hat & drums, sample, plug-in, etc., etc. in their projects. Making it sound like a trill'y and/or sweep'y mess.

I'm thinking we're gonna be hearing a lot (perhaps too much) param sweeps, changes, etc., etc. on everything now, lol.

These new X/Y pads def a nice, useful, new progression and feature... but also gonna need a ton of "practice in restraint" (esp. since it looks too easy and fun to use/implement in your project).

Analog Cases will have one soon for the Live 3. Their cases are top notch

is the disk streaming of samples affected by the CPU upgrade? is it possible to reach the holy grail of seamless project transition with no load time between the two?

I got one big disadvantage for me.
Coming from a Key37 I see that Live3 has no Automation On/Off - Read/Write switch button.

I was so surprised, and this is the same as live 2 I guess.

What a pitty, I also could not find any workaround about shortcuts, just using the screen… uff

Im looking at this from Temu. i know it's Temu but I can't bring myself to pay 300 dollars for a lump of plastic made in the same factories as a 70 dollar case.

Yes, by default they work like normal pads (not fat, more like the thickness of traditional MPC pads). Assign your samples as you normally would.

UDG Medium U8301BL looks the same specs as the Gator case recommended by Sweetwater. UDG used to make a dedicated Toraiz 16 case with extra storage under the foam for headphones and cables, but that seems discontinued.
