Hello,

Just started using MPCs again after so many years.
One thing I can not figure out. In the old MPCs I remember that I was able to assign any program to a Track. For example I could load a bunch of drum programs select a track and browse through them. This way I was able to audition different sounds while the pattern is running on the track
With the new version seems like the track and program is single entity. Is this correct? If I want to change a program I need to create a new track and load the program I want and copy the data to the new track?
Is this the only way now or is it possible to have the old behavıour?

Thanks!

they just kill the best akai mpc feature... the send midi is not the same from a creative point of view, but they don't care at all

Welcome back! But beware. The mpc workflow is taboo now. It’s all about turning these boxes into DAWs and catering to FL and Ableton workflows

The good news is you still have access to 2.X which still has the classic mpc feel

If you want to do this kind of auditioning, on the MPC3 you can “LOAD” kits from the browser and swap programs without consuming extra memory. It’s not the most intuitive workflow, though…

Thanks all for the replies!

Good thing V2 is still available. I have downgraded one of my machines and instantly felt home :)
In the mean time I will check if I can get used to the new way of working since it seems the programs are gone for good.

Cheers!
