Splice Tags and Maybe Indexing Woes (?)

Hi everyone,

I searched for this but couldn't quite find what I was after...

I recently got a Live 3, and have synced my Splice collection to the Live's SD card. Within the Splice folder on the SD, there is a sub folder called "By Pack" which contains many sub folders with the name of the pack, and their associated samples, which isn't very useful.

I swear, this folder used to contain different sub folders according to tags, e.g. vocal, percussion, etc, which was much easier to search for content. These sub folders vanished when I re-synced my Splice content with the Akai.

Am I doing something wrong here? It might also be worth noting, when I simply browse all of the content (Splice, expansion packs, my own samples) on the SD card, the Live 3 can't actually pull out samples. Before, I could hit the sample icon in the Akai's browse function, and see a trillion samples that I could then search...now I can't.

It's almost like the memory card hasn't been indexed. Maybe I'm missing something? Used to be flawless with my Key 61...

Any ideas?

Edit:L I'm looking at an archived copy of my old SD card...under the Splice folder it has:

By BPM
By Tag
By Pack
By Key
By Intrument

All of these subfolders vanished when I re-synched....

I had that happen once with a certain MPC Update, I forget which one it was. Delete the Splice folder from the SD Card, then re-download it in the Preferences > Splice page on the MPC. Hopefully it pulls everything in properly. That fixed it for me way back when, so I hope it works for you. Good luck.

Rats! Didn't work, unfortunately. Just one "by pack" subfolder and no more tags.

So...after going around in Google circles....

Apparently formatting the SD card to exFAT as Akai recommends does not allow for tags. If I format as Mac OS Extended (which isn't recommended by Akai) then that format does have the ability to have tags.

I don't suppose anyone can confirm or deny?

EDIT: The latter option rendered the card "read only."

SOLVED:

Formatted the SD drive using the MPC as opposed to the computer - Splice then synched perfectly with tags and all!
