A question about activations

A question about activations.

User of Live mk1 and X here. Every time I switch on my machines I have to re-activate my purchased plugins, even though I appear to be logged in. The refresh button seems to do nothing. Now I have the Pro Pack installed this is a real pain because I have to go through this process first otherwise opening projects cause the machine to crash.

Does anyone have any info on what I might be doing wrong?

I too have the same problem, started at 3.5 and only seems to affect the pro pack some others are unaffected, it’s possible it’s something to do with the time , that’s in the hardware tab in prefs.

Just a guess: Check your date and time settings in the preferences and see if they are correct.

If not it’s very likely a CMOS battery issue on the main CPU carrier board. Once that battery runs out, the unit can’t keep proper time anymore, which causes a mismatch with the plugin authentication — that’s why you have to re-activate everything each time you boot up.

You’ll then probably need to replace the CMOS battery to fix it. These things last 7-10 years normally so not sure here if that is your problem.

I have the same problem on my force. I contacted Akai but no response yet.

Same issue with live 1. Constantly have to go to plugins and one by one reactivate.

Just turn off wifi when you are not in need of actually updating anything. It solves it.

Or is there a reason for anyone to keep wifi activated apart from updates? Perhaps people use it for something not present in my workflow.

No, turning WiFi off does not solve it because the MPC WILL in fact ask you to reactivate much sooner than intended. There's a ton of misinformation out there regarding a solution, partly because AFAIK there IS no simple solution. I've talked to inMusic about this, and they could not figure it out. Personally, this is also an issue with the VST versions of the standalone plugins and I've seen this echoed elsewhere.

The only thing we can all do is contact inMusic in hopes they prioritize finding a solution, because it is NOT normal for the MPC to do this, yet it's been an issue for some people (myself included) for years.

There's logic to this, and it's worth looking into in some cases. However, the VST versions also deactivate on their own.

Turing of wifi make the clock goes out of sync, so now the files date & time will be off. I think you could re-sync at each time you turn the box on then turn it off, but we shouldn't have to be dealing with needy shit when just wanna jam!

One easy solution is, for the people that have this issue akai simply doesn't require them to validate their purchases every time. Just lock us in for a year or so...

I just don’t understand why it isn’t a one time flag but that’s probably me.

For me turning off Wifi after activating once solved the constant reactivating issue
I only activate wifi once I know there is a new firmware to be installed.
Never had the reactivation issue after starting doing it like this.

I can live with reactivating again after the firmware updates.

Thanks for the responses. It seems replacing the cmos battery is the solution! It’s not a bug.

Aha! that would explain the date and time not persisting!
