Hi all,
My trusty MPC X took a dump within a couple hours after upgrading to MPC and installing the Pro Pack.
Coincidence? Well… I’m going to keep explaining it that way until I have a better explanation.
I noticed some expected lag at first and decided to uninstall the Pro Pack and carry on. A little while later I started getting the following errors:
-Error: Specified configuration may not be supported by the device. Code: -71
-Error: Specified configuration may not be supported by the device. Code: -19
-Failed to open capture stream
-Please eject MPC X SSD before disconnecting. Failure to eject safely may result in loss of data.
-also the same message, but for the SD card as well

There is a faint, intermittent clicking in the speakers which does not increase in volume of I turn it up.

Sometimes u could use it for 30mins before encountering problems, but lately the -71 message has been popping up immediately at startup.

Akai was great. They suspected is was due to the upgrade due to the fact that so many errors started coming up all at once, and only after the upgrade. They said it was likely that the firmware hadn’t installed properly. Asked me to downgrade and do some testing to see if that fixed the problem.
I downgraded and unfortunately the problems persisted. I even further downgraded, but still not good.
Akai said they would forward this to their Level 2 specialized service team, and I’m just waiting to hear back.
It’s worth noting that I thoroughly examined the internals for loose or misplaced wires, as I know this has been the culprit with some of these errors for others in the past (some might remember a yt video where I guy was demonstrating on a live ii. I easily located that wire on my X and it was rock solid and the solder looked good too)

I’d love to hear some opinions here, if anyone has any.

✌️

i got the live mk1 when it first dropped... it finally started acting up with the restart reboot bullshit thing (2.15, never went past that FW) after 8 years or so of no issues. might be back on the mpc60 soon it seems... almost 40 years going and it still works mint.
