Anyone using a MIDI footswitch live with MPC One?

I have a Nektar Pacer which is pretty flexible. I'm thinking of doing some open mics and playing lap steel or regular guitar along with tracks on the MPC. I did a few open mics like this with a small modular system earlier this year but that gets a bit janky on tuning sometimes. Seems like the MPC looper doesn't respond to MIDI and I'm kind of wondering what use is it at all like that?

But I'm not so worried about the looper, I have a Boss pedal for that. Any experiences, good, bad, ugly?
