SHIFT TRIM ---scroll through samples til you find the one you want to filter
OPEN WINDOW
COPY
DO IT
This creates a copy.
Now, SHIFT PROGRAM
DRUM 1 (or 2 or 3 or whatever)
Press an empty pad
Scroll through the samples (using the data wheel) til you find the copied sample. Now the copy is assigned to that pad.
push PARAM (either F2 or F3, cant remember which but it says PARAM right above it)
Push the pad that has your copied sample on it that you just assigned
move the cursor to where it says FREQ or FILTER (cant remember, dont have my MP turned on right now)
it should be at 100. using the data wheel, spin it left, and you will see the number go down. Push where it says "PLAY" and you can hear it. As you lower the frequency, you are filtering the treble out and leaving only the "LOW END". Filter it to where you are happy with just the bass. Also change where it says RESONANCE if you want to, change both til you are satisfied with how it sounds.
PRESTO!
LOW END THEORY!
You might also want to go into SHIFT TRIM and find the same sample, push PARAM, and turn the VOLUME UP, as filtering it down to only bass lowers the volume of it. I usually turn it up to 200, and then lower or raise the other samples as needed to even the volume a bit. Or you could worry about relative volumes during mixdown, but something tells me you arent that far along yet.
