Anyone familiar with the Tempest? Screen issue...

Purchased a Tempest the other day for a very decent price, finally had the chance to switch on and the screen is completely dead. Everything else seems to be working fine. Am I missing some hidden (or not so hidden!) switch or button that activates the screen? RTFM hasn't helped.

Unresponsive seller so far... Ebay claim ready to be filed but don't want to be a dick if it turns out I just needed to engage some button combo.
