How do I update the 2000xl from 1.14 to 1.20

How do I update the 2000xl from 1.14 to 1.20 without a floppy disk drive??

You have to put a floppy drive in, update from floppy, and then convert back to cardreader or whatever you have inside.

I bought a Akai 2000xl with a gotek but the gotek doesn’t work because the 2000xl only has the 1.14 os - do you know how I can update the os to 1.20 without a floppy drive??

The Gotek should also work with 1.14 bc it emulates a floppy drive - the problem is that Gotek itself is crap and i really don't understand ANYONE who uses Gotek drives on a 32MB Ram sampler. Get a proper cardreader and call it a day and stop dealing with these cheapo devices. Really. Best advice i can give.

Are you sure that you're talking about a Gotek floppy emulator?

The version of OS that the XL is running is not contingent on whether the Gotek will run or not.

Which card reader would you recommend that is also hot swap capable?

There are only a few rare CF reader options which are hot swappable, so i would probably choose the ZuluSCSI drive for that.
But i personally have machines withs hot swappable drives only. MCD reader is, the Addonics reader is.
