MPC Live 3 - Touch Strip ain't no NV Slider! :-(

This is my first post here ever.
Some history - I used to program on a MPC 60 and then a 3000 back in the day when I was a record producer.
I loved them both.

One of my favourite tricks was pushing a pad and the note repeat button at the same time, while adjusting the note variation slider, and/or doing this in combination with 16 levels of tuning. It created some really great effects.

Now I make music as a hobby. It's the best way! When I put together my dawless set up I put a (then) new MPC Live at the centre of it.

But it didn't have a note variation slider.

So when I upgraded last week to a now-new MPC Live 3 one of the things that was so exciting was the addition of a touch strip.

As I imagined it, this would bring the functionality of the NV slider and more back to the MPC platform.

But it doesn't.

It seems to do everything I might need, except the trick described above.

So - questions for the forum (and Akai, if you're listening).

q1. Can it do what I need? Have I missed something?
q2. If it can't how would I request this as a feature in the next software upgrade.

You can assign a specific Q-link to the slider, so if you have set up that Qlink with a multi-step macro it could control multiple different track parameters, FX, etc all simultaneously. So any parameter available in Qlink edit is fair game.

You are basically describing pad articulations. Not only can you do this with touchstrip but with all 16 pads.

I can't see how to do this (and I've tried!) When try to do this by programming the q-links to tuning, then hold the note repeat button, the touch strip goes back to altering the quantize fidelity.

If anyone has a moment, I'd really appreciate a step-by-step on how to achieve what I'm looking to do.

Use the mpe for note repeat, don’t press that button.
