curious to know if there are any well known tv jingles that u did in the 80s 90s that we can look up on youtube?

the 80s was def a golden era for tv musical scores.

Also, the keys are shorter in length than usual which makes it difficult to get into the black notes. I presume the designers never approached a good keyboard player or pianist when they produced the prototype because it is a real shortcomingm on what is otherwise a game-changer.
That said, the specs on the new MPC Live 3 hint at either a new MPC or hopefully a new MPC Key machine may be released next. I would love a 73 note version with a semi-weighted keybed. I once owned an EMU E4K and the keybed on that machine was truly fantastic. That said, the Key61 is a machine I could have only dreamed of when I was composing TV jingles in the late 1980s and 1990s. Used with a Tascam Model24, I now have a studio that replaced tons of gear.

Thank you for your input.
1- How do the virtual plug ins instruments compare to a traditional keyboard (I have a yamaha ck61)? I would have to sell my ck61 to buy this and the convenience would be great having a sampler, daw and sounds all inside of one device but I do have the ck61, a roland sp404a and garageband daw on my macbook. I would be selling some things to get the “all in one box” mpc key 61.
2- How difficult is it to figure out how to make songs with the mpc key using the workflow on the mpc key 61? I use garageband because it has the easiest daw. I’m not computer tech savy. I have watched a million youtube videos on making a quick beat or song but I value your opinion.

Also a seasoned music maker - totally agree the Key 61 is one of the best pieces of gear ever made. I haven't really touched Ableton or Logic since getting this thing nearly a year ago.

I don't have too much of a problem with the keybed. It feels similar to my Novation SL MK3 (maybe MK2). But then again, I haven't played a premium keybed for years. Thanks for the nostalgia!

1. I love the sounds in this thing. Immediate, easy to design, and some great synths in there. I think they sound fantastic. You'll need to try 'em though - sound is a personal thing.
2. Depends on you. It didn't take too long to get to grips with - but I did watch a bunch of vids (still do) and read the manual (it's decent). Best resource for me was the MPC Bible.

Quality of sounds 'out of the box' are probably just as good if not better than your Yamaha, but I suspect loading times of each patch may be much more sluggish and overall workflow might be more convoluted. However it is of course more powerful and capable of significantly more than your Yamaha, if you need that stuff of course.

I would highly recommend you try a key61 first, or at least purchase from somewhere with a no-quibble return policy.

Why are people under the impression that the Key 61 loads plugins/patches slowly? I need to make a Youtube video on my channel showing how fast I get between different plugins and loading the patches within them. Wait time is non-existent. Perhaps that has to do with the 4GB of RAM, but I've never been using my Key 61 and thinking "Man this plugin is taking forever to load". Its not even in the wheelhouse of a thought.

Thank you for the clarification on that.

The plug ins are OK. I also have a Quiet PC with a ton of RAM, I forget how much either 64Gb or 92Gb. This setup has my Native Instruments setup, with some Spitfire Audio stuff and NIs own Symphonic Series library. I use this mainly for orchestral stuff. I have a Komplete Kontrol S88 MK2 keyboard that I use with this setup. The whole setup cost about £5000, so you can't really compare it to the Key61. That said, the Key61 is great for pop stuff and the Jura synth plug in is excellent. The workflow is easy once you understand it and the latest software combines all the good stuff from the Force.
I have an extended video on YouTube with me recreating Depeche Modes I just can't get enough. I'll find the link and post it here.

Because it’s true. Some are heavy w/ samples and take a couple of seconds, yep, more than 2 seconds to load.
Some who use this on stage/live will be affected the most.
Some who are at home and aren’t time constrained are just impatient.
Some don’t care either way and are still satisfied (me).

my opinion about mpc keys is: not suitable for live performance, comparing to elektron products. But, as a studio centerpiece it's perfect. Sadly, i missed the chance to buy 61-key version, only 37-key. I'll be 1st in a row when updated mpc key 61 will be launched.

Thanks for your feeback, I decided to “go for it” and ordered an MPC Live 3. I used a black friday sale coupon for 15% off and I just sold my Yamaha CK61 for $800 so its not too much out of pocket for me and I won’t have to worry about loading issues or the device not being able to handle all the new features and updates.

Thank you to everyone for their advice and feedback. I decided to go all in and buy the MPC Live 3. I used a 15% off black friday coupon and just sold my yamaha ck61 for $800 so its not too bad out of pocket for me. Also I know with the 8GB RAM the device has it will be able to handle all the features and updates that will come along.
