S950 Sitting for years questions before I go nuts

Ok I worked on this sampler all throughout the 90's I have all my floppies and now need to go over those discs to get samples I used from back then.

I remember that I used to put in a disk and turn the sampler on and it would load the entire disk. I have floppies that I know have samples on them because I also have an s3000 which when a disk is loaded it has to unscramble each sample then they all load ( I know "why dont you use the S3000) answer is I'm not used to it but I will If I have to. ANYWAY

Every time I load a disc and turn the 950 on it quickly goes to TONE PROGRAM. So if I go Disk / Scroll to 02/and hit 1 ( to load disk . I get Disc is unprepared. Is the drive shot????? anyone??

Get a blank disc, sample something, try to save it, try to load it back, then you'll know for sure if it's the disks or the drive.

Ok I went thru about 50 floppys tried to load each one in the 950. 48 of them have bad data so nothing loads. I ended up using my 3000XL for the job as I loaded each disc and only 4 discs gave me bad data but with the 3000 I can load each sample which I could not do on the 950 so the result worked as I'm now going to go thru years of 950 floppies and place the samples I want on to my hard drive , gonna take me a while as I have about 300 to 400 discs. I knew I had to do this someday so I can do a few a day and thats that. Thx for the reply.
