Thats not true bought original X on day one.. was going to buy live 3 just for usb c audio but waiting onnthe New X since I want the larger screen.. so if this is real ill most likely wait until key 61 is out or just buy the live 3..

It's unclear whether his claim is pointed at people who praise it or trash it. Either way, as a way of criticism it's nonsensical.

If it's about people praising it, on what grounds is he basing the claim that they won't buy it?

If it's about people trashing it, why would they want to buy something they don't like? Like what's the criticism here?

As for the latter scenario, I'd suggest people complain if they'd like to want to buy it and the grounds for complaint typically is that some strange decision by Akai prevents them from justifying buying something they otherwise would find useful. Not that difficult to figure out one would think but...

Damn... The placement of the Qlink is trash.
Makes this thing look ugly asf.
Also... The screen pokes out even more...
Hopefully they didn't use the same kickstand in the back.

Just the Qlink location alone looks like a pain in the @ss
If this is real, I'm pretty sure I'll pass.

Honestly.. The TR-1000 looks a lot better in design.
I know it cannot do what this can, ofcourse, but design choices and capabilities/sound/outputs, I think it's probably a better product.

Maybe because I'm used to it on the Force, but the Q-links going all across make it better to see everything more quickly, because your eyes doesn't have to keep moving back a forth as you go from each row of knobs. The little screens above the knobs are also tilted, like on the Force, to make them easier to see, if the MPC is laying flat down.

You're free to think it's ass, butt :shock: , I think it works better for how 3.0 is setup & it's also one of things you would need to try it, before you deny it. You may still hate it but at least you know you hate it.

I disagree about the TR1k being the better product on all your claims the MPC is better subjectively, so where we going with this - I round & round debate to nowhere? Or will you stick around just hate on it? Or....

I got the TR8S & that thing is amazing & the 1000 is even better!

I think you'll like it better & realize it's better laid-out after you used it for some time.

To me, the design looks less cluttered without screens & knob stacked up on top of each other. But I'm coming from the Force & you're used to the X, so it make sense you'd feel this way. You got the right attitude with the "I'll get get used to it" approach. I wish we more people had that mindset.

IRONY ALERT

The horizontal mixers in the OS are a disaster (for me) and this q-link orientation, if true, will be even worse. I remember using an MPC One as a stand-in for a show (being used to the X) and being thrown completely that the assignment was horizontal even though the physical layout was still vertical. Someone in AKAI has been looking out at the skyline for too long I think…

Anyway, you said it - tradition. I’m all for modernity but some traditions are worth keeping. The 4x4 ‘tradition’ is being gradually trashed

Q-links on the side, helps with twisting knobs and hittin pads side by side. With q-links up above you need to reach up and over pads, not ergonomically pleasant.

The buttons, less used, should have been up above the pads and the more physically, interacted with, knobs should have remained on the side and closer within reach.

Other gear & Key61 has shown me that reaching up and over constantly is not a good idea.

But, I’ll get used to it and keep it moving. It’s not gonna stop me from making beats, not at all & it’s not like I don’t still have an og x either, so, safe.

I could care less about how that XL will look!
Will that thang Perform How I want it to without Bugs?
My Muscle Memory will get use to whatever Button/Knob Layout is present.

Horizontal Qinks vs column Qlinks? This has always meant that the Force versions of my kit/instruments had a messed up Qlink layout as generally it makes sense to group controls by column (e.g. column 1 = lofi FX controls, column 2 ambience controls etc).

In the MPC Live, 'Qlink column 1' is, from top, Q13, Q9, Q5, Q1, In the Force, the qlinks run in numerical order Q1, Q2, Q3 Q4, etc, so the assignments are no longer 'grouped'. Hopefully Akai make the MPCXL Qlinks run Q13, Q9, Q5, Q1, Q14, etc
