Dedicated computer for MPC Ren

Like the title says I'm looking to buy a computer dedicated just to using the ren. I'd really only have mpc software, reaper and plugins installed on it. I found this refurbished pc and I'm thinking it should qorkout. Just trying to see if the built in audio interface will still work with this

I went ahead and ordered it. It does have 2 usb 2.0 ports so hopefully it will be fine. I heard trying to plug the ren into a USB 3 port was the issue most times

How did that mini PC work out? You pleased with the performance?

I saw an AI wrote that the REN will work with win 11... Did anyone see that?

I haven't been using my MPCs because my oldest computer is at the brink of extinction

I might just get a super cheap LAPTOP for it! So I can get back to that workflow!

and just as an aside- I really dislike the new MPC XL and that stuff like that!

Ren is good. It's got that nice little screen and you can use the computer too

VMs usually fail if a hardware driver is required.
The Ren isn‘t USB class compliant, so it won‘t connect to Win7

The Mini PC you’re looking at is perfectly fine, but if you're open to different form factors, you could get more for your money. Honestly, $539.99 for the HP seems a bit steep.

I typically recommend Lenovo models. Some of them even have enough space to add a low-profile PCIe card with an adapter, which can be a nice feature.

If you're after a compact unit, the Lenovo M720Q is a solid option to start with. You can also upgrade them to a low-power 8-core, 16-thread processor, like the i7-9700T. That said, since you’re using a REN, I don’t think you’ll need much more processing power. Most computers built in the past 10 years should easily handle it.
