Put Flex Beat Player on any track, submix or output and decide which "pads" you want to map.

Note: The following mapping works with a controller that sends anything above 0 on button press and 0 on release.

For a "pad" in "Loop" or "One Shot" mode use the chosen track as "source" and for the target the insert slot and "Pade Hold x" (where x is the pad numer as seen on the screen). As type choose "Fixed Button".

For a "pad" in "Hold" mode do the same but pick "Momentary Button".

If the MIDI controller has a toggle or latch mode, ie it sends 127 on the first press, 0 on the second and 127 on the third, etc. you can use the same setup as described for "pad in Hold mode". So you can enable a pattern with one press and disable it with a second without having to keep a button pressed.

It is also possible to enable/disable quantization and change the wet/dry mix level.

More mappings are possible (like changing the play mode for a "pad"), but I haven't played around with it yet.

This is fantastic! Huge thank you for posting these instructions,

How do you save the midi mapping to use in another project? It's painfully slow to select The source and Target for 16 different pads. Or am I missing something simple?

The routings/Midi map does save with the project so I guess you could make a template but that's only a workaround I'm guessing.

Thanks for your help if possible

AFAIK MIDI mappings cannot be exported/imported on their own.

Maybe one could edit the XPJ itself (it's a zipped JSON file), but neither have I tried those nor do I think that's convenient. OTOH are you a programmer? Perhaps you can script injecting the mapping.

I don't have Flexbeat so can't test it out, but I have the Launch Pad and Launch control XL. The launch control has 8 pads too. So this approach should also work with it. The more I use the Launch Control XL the more it seems an essential companion for the MPC (I now have 2).
