solution for remote recording

Hi everyone,
my MPC Live 3 is in the center of my studio, and to the left I have an upright piano and to the right a drum kit. It's a bit tight when I press record/play to get into position properly when recording an audio track... I'm looking for a solution to have more time or to be able to trigger recording remotely. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Go to preferences page "MIDI / SYNC" and enable MMC receiving.

Then any device capable to sending a MIDI MMC "record" message connected to the MPC can enable record on the MPC. The manual "Appendix MIDI Machine Control (MMC)" says that you need to connect via MIDI IN A, but I don't know it this is true.

I don't recall if you MMC record actually starts recording or if you have to enable record and then send an MMC "play" afterwards.

One option is to use punch-in recording. Set Auto Record at Loop Start, press Play first, then hit Record while it’s playing. Recording will start automatically from the beginning of the next loop, giving you time to get into position.

Another approach is to use the clip workflow: turn Fixed Rec Length off, record freely, and then just keep the part of the take that worked best.

You could also use a footswitch or pedal that can send MMC messages to trigger recording remotely.

It works on audio tracks as well. Make sure you press the Rec button during playback (not Overdub).

Finnaly i bought m-vave chocolate (midi bluetooth controller) lets we'll see.

Nice. If you combine the Auto Record at Loop Start feature with MMC commands (F0 7F 7F 06 06 F7), you can record tracks remotely.

Yes, that's what I had planned.

A button to record. A button to play.A button to stop. A button to change tracks? Iprépare some audios tracks and after I need up bouton.

Is that possible? Yes, I can find the midi command like you wrote for REC? Or Maybe, midi learn with MPC ?

MPC recognises MMC commands. No need to learn them. Though you need to enable them (see an earlier post).

I received the Vave Chocolate and just set it up. It's really easy.

I configured buttons
A to: Record
B: Stop
C: Play/Start

And button D to select the track.

Using buttons E and F (press A and B) for down (C and D) for up bank/track and click D for "active" it, I switch banks. Changing banks allows me to change tracks with a simple configuration in CubeSuite. So now I can navigate between tracks and record, play, and stop on all banks.
