So I had been tearing my hair out over the 2 loop bug that occurs when importing a midi file, on firmware 3.6
I realized that it defaults to a 2 bar loop, so I followed others' advice and changed the track/seq number of bars and turned off loop function. Still wouldn't play past two bars. I changed project defaults to the number of bars I wanted, also to no avail. It was suggested that I start a new project, import the file, change the track lengths, then save as a project, then import into a new fresh project to get the full sequence, but that is a real PITA. While exploring around and trying to come up with a solution that does NOT involve the computer or leaving the project im working on, I found an easier solution.
Copy the track to itself. I go to "copy track with events" (this is in the midi track) it will try to append it to the end of the track, but change it to Bar 1, and overwrite the existing track. Literally just copy pasting it onto itself, and it works like a charm. Then use "midi send" in the track properties to send the midi to whatever plugins or programs I want as a sound source. No leaving the project or going to controller mode needed. This is huge for me, because sometimes when I'm not feeling inspired to compose from scratch, it is fun to "remix" classical songs and jam some beats over the top of them, think trip-hop Beethoven, but needing my computer and/or multiple project hops really killed it.
Hope this is of use to anyone else playing with midi files in standalone, at least until they fix the bug in a future update.
Note: I did search the forum topics, but the advice I found to just change the track length either in the grid or main screen did NOT work for me, but this does.
Have a great day

Because at least for me, in 3.6, importing a midi file means that regardless of setting the sequence or track length, only the first 2 bars plays. Even going into grid mode all the notes can be seen, but they do not play past bar 2. Id even tried tricking it by setting it to a later bar, but then nothing plays. So obviously I want the notes from the midi file otherwise it's useless, and I dont need an extra track doing nothing. Just duplicating the midi track onto itself with overwrite solves the issue and the whole sequence plays without having to do other workaround tricks. I could also highight all hundred bars in grid mode, copy them, then paste over into the instrument track's piano roll, but I prefer to keep the midi tracks separate from the sounds, and use send to decide what plays which instrument

Is the Arranger set to loop 2 bars?
