Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hi,

For stepping thru a sequence in main use the event buttons in the transport section down right.

In sample mode / trim loop, set the monitor field (top right) to 'multi' do the same in program mode. If you set the monitor field to 'sample' or 'program' all tracks routed to a part will play it's notes using the program/sample instead of the multi. That's what you were hearing and call "everything goes nuts".

As you can see it is only a matter of knowing what is it's name?, Where can i find it? And how does it work? It's all there.

thanks for the tip on the multi thing.

BUT, for stepping through on main, i know to use the transport buttons, however, it wont record the midi events i input with the pads......ON the 2xl, all you had to do was hold down the rec button, use the transport buttons, then enter whatever pad you wanted, wherever, just like in step edit. It does not work.

^^^^^yeah. Its definately a mpc2xl thing. So i cant complain, as its entirely a differant beast. But its one of those things i was so use to, that i miss it. But im gonna send an email to akai. Because it doesnt seem like something that is that difficult to implement.

Its one of those things that isnt that crucial, but just adds some icing to the cake. Especially those who had a 2xl first.

peace and thanks for all the help everyone. I love the 4000. Its gonna take time getting use to, as far as my work flow, but it will be worth it.

Its funny, cause i thought i was a pro on my 2xl, which might have been true, but i know ill be able to take the 4000 and my productions further.

peace

BTW. gotta go shovel some snow!
