So I've got this ZIP 250 SCSI drive off Ebay, only to find out it did not come with the proper cable to connect it to the MPC3000. Not a big issue really, should be easy to get one.

Now, as soon as the thing arrived home, I tried to power up the ZIP drive to make sure it was working. Only cable I connected was the power lead, no SCSI. I could not find an on/off switch, I assume there isn't one on the drive.

Well, nothing is going on - no blinking light, no mechanical noise, absolutely dead. Tried to insert a ZIP disk in, still nothing; had to use the eject hole in the back to take it out.

Is that normal? Will the drive come to life when there is an active SCSI connection or should I send it back and stop getting stuff off ebay?

Thanks for your feedback lads.

Try checking the power supply before assuming the drive is dead.
