pretty sure some company will buy them out and continue their software legacy

that was always they strong point sounds and software.

seem like maschine was one of their biggest successes but may have also been part of their undoing

The writing has been on the wall for a while now.

They tried to treat that Maschine 3 release as a full update even though nothing in there warrants a whole new version number.

Flagship Traktor Kontrol has been mostly neglected over the past 5 years. They randomly drop a new product out of the blue.

Maschine + and Maschine MK3 not getting specs bumps was the biggest red flags.

Maschine Expansions have slowed down tremendously. They are still pumping out Massive and Kontak genre expansions though

I’m not joking when I said Jack should buy them. He missed out on Reason Studios and that would have been awesome. Don’t let NI slip by, Jack!

EDIT: too late - looks like a venture capital group scooped them up already:

Commission clears acquisition of Native Instruments Group by Bridgepoint and Bain Capital Credit

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control of Native Instruments Group GmbH of Germany by Bridgepoint Group Holdings Limited (‘Bridgepoint') of the UK and Bain Capital Credit L.P. of the US.

The transaction relates primarily to the market for software and hardware tools for music production.

The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given that the companies are not active in the same or vertically related markets. The notified transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.

More information is available on the Commission's competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.12232.

This was foreseeable. Rumors of their demise started years ago. I guarantee the trade wars put a huge nail in their coffin. Costs for German industry is through the roof and competition is strong now. Their software was always a little bit pricey so in an economic downturn was an anvil around their neck. The MPC machine collab was exactly what i expected to foreshadow this. Akai was NI's biggest most direct hardware competitor so under no circumstance other than pre takeover would you collab with the company that could smite you businesswise. This may bode well for us MPC users. Kontakt on MPC standalone Yes f'ing please. Session bassist in the MPC XL. BRING IT. TAKE my money.!

In the meantime I'm working on native MPC version of a Fender Precision bass, similar to my recent Fender Telecaster instrument expansion. Guitar currently at the luthier getting set up for some sweet, flatwound string Motown vibes :)

Maybe they should have created exciting instruments and effects instead of flooding the world with boring sample instruments.

Aren't the owners of NI clueless investors who though buying NI, Izotope and Plugin Alliance gets them easy money? Too bad that the music industry is quite competitive.

Ooh Nice. I'm sure with all the new goodies making instruments on par with the best Kontakt libraires is now even more viable.
