OK folks, I`ve had an OG Live for years now since they were new. It has been to the shop twice back when I had GC extended coverage and they never fixed the issue with the touch screen not responding.
I pulled it back out after is sitting for 6 years or so and started messing with it myself, it seems to work fine with the back panel off but when I put it back together the touch screen stops responding. I feel like the ribbon cable s maybe get crammed and cause the issue but I`m not positive.
Anyone have any ideas? The new software really is dope so I`d love to be able to use it.

Well update, I disassembled it and reassembled it once again and its working for now, most of time it will work for a few then stop working. So, I`m leaning towards one of the ribbon cables having been damaged when it was worked on by the shop that had it twice. Now to see if I can obtain new ribbon cables to prevent issues in the future.

i agree with you...

ive dissembled lives before, and that ribbon cable is delicate. also, the connector it connects to -- the cable end needs to be direct into the slot. it can be tricky to do.

the cable can also just be faulty as well.

Definitely, I had it on for a couple hours today and it kept working so I`m hoping I got it this time since I missed having it and the new firmware is pretty good.

So, after having the unit on for several hours it started glitching again. I had put a ticket in with Akai and they suggested taking it to one of their "service centers" which means some un vetted shop of unresponsive uncaring losers that are contracted with them because they are the only ones around. So, after thinking about it I took it apart once more and found what I believe is the culprit, one of the ribbon cables was folded over completely. I had seen this one before but didn't look at the far end of it which was worse than the end that was visible from the top. Where is plugged in to the main board (with USB etc) it was completely folded over and tweeked due to some lazy idiot at a "service center" for Guitar Center probably. After a few minutes of research, I found a replacement on mouser electronics. It's a 0.5mm pitch 22 pin x 200 mm length opposite side connectors flexible printed circuit cable in case anyone else has erratic glitchy behavior or a non-responsive touch screen.
I`ll update this thread once I get the replacement and verify it works.

Hope it works homie. I had to give up on my One because the screen would stop working randomly (I aint got time to repair myself what was sold to me broken lol) Apparently its a common problem with the One. My OG live never had that issue

Definitely bro me as well, It`s been in a box for years now since I got rid of most of my gear and the warranty was up. I recently decided to get a Roland JD-XI to mess with and then got the gear bug again and pulled it out. The new firmware is really good so it would be killer if all it takes is a $5 cable.
I`ll let you guys know what happens as i imagine it can be a common issue with the routing of the cables on these things.
