I have a Novation Launch Control XL MK3 and a Live 3. I am loving the combination....however....

Sometimes when I use the faders the Live 3 seems to start "buffering" - doesn't matter if I'm working with a drum track or plugin. It's almost as if the audio engine is under strain (like the tempo will slow, the samples will crackle). This happens frequently.

The only solution when this happens is to reboot the Live 3, and then everything is okay again. I *think* the problem occurs when I midi map a new macro to the Launch Control. Like, the sessions is fine and then I'll decide to map a send to a dial, and then things start going wonky.

I'm running the latest OS and firmware on both devices. I have the two devices connected via USB.

I'm wondering if this is a known MIDI bug? Or if I'm being silly and have missed something?

You say when you move the faders, so is it always fine when you move the knobs?

I have 2 Mk2 Launch Controls and don't have this problem. I would have thought the faders on the Mk2 andMk3 worked the same, whereas the knobs on the Mk3 are endless encoders, but not on the Mk2.

When it's the faders, does the buffering happen when they are switched to control something else (on the Mk2 this would be by changing banks) or when it controlling the same function.

Definitely happens on the faders (which are assigned to track volume 1-8). So just increasing simple volume can cause the problems. I can't confirm the encoders yet. Like I said, this is sporadic - and solved by rebooting the machine.

Odd right?

Do you have the output ports assigned to the Mk3 or just the input ports? If you do does the Mk3 need this (just trying to rule things out, as the Mk2 doesn't)

There are 2 input and output ports in the Mk2, the HUI in and out and the control in and out. My Mk2 work if I only set the 'Launch Control Launch Contro' inputs to Control and Track, and everything else Launchcontrol related is off. I've forgotten what Global is for, maybe needed for mixer stuff. Have you tried striping back to essentials to rule out what is causing this.
