There is no pad hold option on the MPC. You can't hit the pad and it just plays continuously on loop until you hit it again.

Anyone found any kind of work around? ( not pad mute from another pad )

What Tutor said & you can always resample it looping for a long time, then make it stream to disk.

You still do it with the clip-matrix by setting a clip play type to Trigger in instead of Toggle & set the clip launch quantization to None.

The clip will play like a sample on a drum track pad. Since it the clip launch quantization, the clip will play & loop whenever to press it, which means they can be played offbeat (off the tempo/grid quantization). You can get some weird but cool loops going.

Have you tried this?

Thanks, I'll have a look at this.

Such an obvious feature though. I'm sure my old MPC"s used to be able to do this. MySP404/2 you can just turn this on and off and set the envelope for the attack and release.

LOL you need to pay $200 on gen1 just to hold a **** sample. "just use the clip matrix" :vomit:

step 1: remove a function from a previous OS version ,step 2: make people pay $200 in a new OS to get that the equivalent of that function back. step 3: profit.

The main reason I keep using my S5000 is for the "loop until retrigger" function. So good for ambient drones!

Absolutely, I can't understand why they would have taken this away.

You can get a sample to loop in note on mode with a long sustain/release setting. It will decay over time unfortunately so it’s only an approximation. It’s one of the most frustrating omissions…

It shouldn't decay over time if you set the sustain to max, it will hold that volume indefinitely.

Good to know Tutor, thanks - I haven’t been at the MPC in a while so my memory is fuzzy…

Yeah this would be great. I don't know why they took clip programs away, it would be great to be able to have toggleable samples or sequences that work from inside a drum program. The clip launcher doesn't work that well when you have a limited number of pads because you can only use four rows rather than being able to move loops wherever you want them in the grid and toggle them on and off. Also the clip launching mode on the pads only works from the clip launching mode so you can't go to any other mode and continue using the pads to launch clips.

From this & another one of post, it sounds like you be better of with Force. It can be in step-seq mode, drum mode & Clip mode at once.
