No one is going to buy iona until it drops down to $34, all their customers know how the game works now

I also suspect akai realise they need to start thinking outside the box, churning out emulations and generic template rompers is not a long term solution imo, so much more interesting stuff possible with plugins

Maybe Iona & the last batch of plugins & FX of the last few years did well & they're using this survey to sell us exactly what we want.

I mostly hear people enjoying Iona but I don't hear much about Tape Double Track that was free if you signed up but, is currently $99. I thinks it great.

Maybe gen2 being more powerful means that plugs & fx will take longer to make so they want to know from the people who keeps their lights on, what should they be spending time on first. I'm just happy they're doing this right after the XL came out & the year is just getting started.

I agree nothing worse than spending serious time on something and no one buys it, been there a couple of times myself.

They are in a weird boat as a company that makes VST and MPC plug ins. Wonder how big their customer base is that are non MPC users. Given the choice between softtube and Air Music for a 101 emulation, I'm going to get the Air Music version, because it nice to have in my MPC, but if I didn't have an MPC, I probably wouldn't even bother with a 101 emulation. If they make competition for an existing product on the market, it needs to be better than that for VST only uses to get, where as a lesser VST product is already better for me because I can use it in my MPC. I'd really like them to make a decent wavetable synth, but I have Vital, so can they do better than that as a VST. In a way, if they just worked with vital and made it a paid for MPC product, they wouldn't have to make a competing VST option. Although I've posted before, that putting a wavetable engine into the sample, rather than a whole new plugin could be am interesting angle. Maybe one to include in the Pro Pack.

A wavetable synth with user wavetables, and a Distortion Pro plug in, with 3 bands, and choice of distortion, overdrive, wavefolder, wave shaper would be my top wish for plug ins in each category.

I've gave the Tape Double Track adoration when it came out. I haven't really seen much love for either Iona or the Tape Double Track. The survey asked about favourite FX, but I don't really have one that stands out. It was going on everything for a while, but I'm like that with FX that gives me something different. Both Tape Double Track and the Multiband Filterbank were great additions.

Iona is a great plug but that price is way too high. 50 dollars max ever. It's almost as much as hardware, or in some cases more expensive than hardware.

i bought iona and found its useful in a handful of projects. cost of something is relative to the individual. i found the price fine, just like their other options.

0.01%? Every possible FX, original synth or synth emulations has been done at least thrice (synths) if not a thousand times or more (FX). I never find Akai/AIR plugins in any of the best-of-year or whatever collection. I assume Akai is under the radar for the majority of desktop producers.

Sidenotes:
There are some many out there making VSTs that I don't understand how so many of them can survive.

Everything has been done. I haven't seen any VST for a long time that really excited me.

So far they are only extending the range of instruments with Spitfire's orchestral plugins.

I would buy the Goodhertz plugins for MPC if they came with the option of disabling/hiding most other plugins. I think the list is overcrowded and users should have the option to at least untick boxes to not show all the shovelware the MPC comes preloaded with…
