I owned Minilogue. Sold it. Regretted about it.
I owned Minilogue XD. Sold it. Regretted again.
I had DSI Mopho Keyboard. Sold it. Regretted.
Also: Microbrute, Korg Volca Bass. Sold them. Regretted.
Now I have Elektrons, MPC Key, Roland JV-2080.
What have i learned: every synth has it's own character, there's no "universal" synth.

There are 6 synths that I focus on for their different characters in the MPC; OPX-4, Jura, Odyssey, SubFactory, Iona and Mini D. If I had bought the MPC with all these installed before I bought any of my hardware synths, I would have made very different decisions. Really I should be in the mind of selling them, but they all offer something different too, and for the second hand price I don't really know if it's worth it. I like hardware because it's more 'hands on', but now I've programmed up the a pair of Launch controls, all the MPC plugins are now 'hands on'.

In a way my hardware synths have become distractions, but enjoyable distraction. Spent the past 3 days trying to stop be scared of the Hydrasynth, which can be a little overwhelming, like the OPX-4 in many ways. Before that I was trying to tame the Taiga, one that I sometimes regret, but at the same time it stops me getting GAS for the eurorack wormhole. At one point every single hardware synth seemed essential to my big plan, but now none of them are, but I'll still stick with them, even when tey don't get plugged in for months and some cases years (uh herm, microfreak, cough cough).

I have boog. I'll never sell it. It's too good for it's money.
I checked all "free" plugins with MPC installed. Odyssey, Subfactory are trash-sounding plugs, comparing to real one synths. I mean, real trash, especially on a high notes. Mello and solina are decent, but...
I'm planning to buy Elektron DN in future, I need decent FM-synth for basses.

yeah, second that.

There was a time that i've had some rare synths in my studio - crumar bit 99 and polivoks, the second one ruski synth was craaaaaazy, it had this unique filter that could create more low bass that 808, it had this mystique feel in sound, pair it with delay, reverb and lsd and you could be mc rasputin prod by gagarin on the beat.

I was sucker for vintage audio stuff, consoles, preamps, mics, you name it.

of course daydreaming about cash register mpc 60.

One day, i've sold it all - do I regret? no.
This day - realised that music comes from brain not devices, devices are only tool to move air in particular way.

MPC is my tool of choice, just because i like to sequence sounds by hand hitting pads - it's more fun than painting piano roll boxes with mouse, nothing more, for some musicans laptop without any controller is enough to make bangers and it's fine.

Back to the topic question - What your SYNTH says about YOU???
Nothing, synths cannot talk.

I like Odyssey & Sub-Factory what they are. Mellotron is dope too me, but I wish they would add more samples like can with a real one. Solina is OK but I always forget about it.
