So, the MPC software supports either changing the current Sequence or selected track on a Program Change MIDI command, which can be set up in MIDI/Sync Preferences.
Now, I'm seeing that if I set up a MIDI track, and then send Program Change events via automation on a MIDI output, on any MIDI channel, the project will change the selected track (or sequence, depending on the preferences) to that. This is not what I want or expect. I'm sending the Program Change command out of the MPC, I'm not expecting it to interpret it as an incoming command.
And, because a MIDI channel cannot be selected when setting up Program Change preferences inside MIDI/Sync, I can't even work around it by sending the Program Change commands on another channel.
Should I consider this a bug report? Is there any known workaround?
Thanks!
