Hey everyone,

I built a free Mac app called MPC Renamer that lets you properly rename your MPC projects!

My projects folder was a mess, so I originally built this to solve a pain point in my own workflow. Figured I’d share it in case anyone else is dealing with the same thing. Manually having to go "file>save as>new name" just to rename projects was no fun.

This handles all of that. Point it at your projects folder, click rename, done.

What it does:

• Renames the .xpj file and _[ProjectData] folder together
• Updates internal file path references so MPC can still find everything
• Preview changes before confirming
• Search across all your projects
• Works with: MPC Software, MPC Live, MPC One, MPC X, MPC Key, and anything that uses .xpj files

Requirements: macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, Apple Silicon

Isn't easier to rename files while in PC mode or does this do something more?

I name projects by the date they were made, the main device & later on, I'll add a beat name if I come up with one like 20260320-Force-DopeBeat. But the if I record a new version I'll just add the date it was recorded as the folder name like 20260320-20260321. The date acts like a SS# since the beat name may change but the date it was first made never does. Still this is dope that you took time to make this to help out others!
