MPC Sample will not read the files i loaded onto the SD Card

Trying to figure out why none of my audio files are appearing when I browse the SD Card. If I save a project on the care there is no issue locating and loading the file, but none of my samples are showing up.

What gives?

Need more info... where did you put the files (directory) on the card... what's the name of some of the files... what type of file are they... what is the sample rate and bit depth... the more information you can provide the easier it'll be to help.

At first I couldn't see mine, and I had to move back and forth a couple of times under the MPC file explorer to get it to show the samples I'd put on the SD card.

The MPC also creates a main folder 'MPC-Sample' and two subfolders - 'Projects' and 'Samples'

I'm not sure whether I should be loading my sample folders into the 'Samples' subfolder, or if that's supposed to be for newly-saved samples.

I'm leaving them on the root of my SD card for now.

Edit: Actually, there's a 'User' subfolder under 'Samples' so I have just moved all my samples into the 'Samples' folder. Now they all show up straight away when I hit SAMPLE SELECT.

I assume 'User' will be where the MPC defaults to put any samples I save.

MPC-Sample > Projects
MPC-Sample > Samples > [all my stuff] [User]

Yes also once you put a new SD card in the Sample it will create a User Folder

To the OP, yes it's a bit of a problem, poor design from Akai here. Basically there's currently no way to access any samples saved inside a project, if you hit [SAMPLE SELECT] and go to the projects folder you cannot see any samples at all despite there being plenty in the projectData folders.

For my expansions I'm initially going to put a copy of the samples in a separate folder. So my current recommendation is to create an 'MPC Sample Expansions' folder in the root of your disk, put your commercial expansions in there. My expansions will have their own projects folder and a separate 'samples' folder. It's not ideal as it's just duplicating samples, but it will give people the option to load up samples as required.

It is possible to batch amend project files so they point to a different samples folder (I already do this with my track files as file paths in .XTD files are relative and don't require a specific 'trackData' folder), so that's a potential idea for the future, needs testing and also a bit risky ATM as Akai quite likely to change things drastically in these early days
