Usb-c from phone audio crackle

It sounds like a sample rate mismatch, but there's like a clicking playing with the audio and it also records that way too.

Is anybody else tried this out yet?

My phone is a Google pixel

been okay with my iPhone so far... but don't have an Android device to test with... bummer to hear it and hopefully Akai fixes the issue... had this problem with the Dirtywave M8 and it took a bit of tweaks before Trash80 got it fixed for the M8.

I did contact akai support and i have to say thier automated ai chat support thing is good. not those generic ai chats.

I didn't have any 1/4 inch cables with me in the car to test, but it was immediately spitting out questions like " is the crackle on sample playback also or just the input?"

I will follow up with them later when i get home and update this post in case anyone else has this issue.

I have this issue too on a Pixel Pro 7. I have a feeling it is because it is also supplying charge to the akai. If there was a way to turn delivering charge as well, I think this would be welcome..I really don't need my phone to discharge while I'm sampling

Hi, I have the same problem right now. Recording using my phone and the USB-C cable supplied with the MPC is bad quality with some cracks or clics.
I tried to lower the phone input to avoid saturating the sound, but it didn't fixed the problem.

Any suggestions?

I'm just about to start running some tests with different cables etc. will report back.

I wanted to add that my phone is a Google Pixel 8. Could it be the cause of the problem?

Here's hoping it's something that can be fixed with firmware on the device and it's not a pixel thing. Would be rather annoying if the Google owned OS and matching 'vanilla' phone doesn't work properly with usb c. In the meantime, using USB-c to 3.5mm socket then 3.5mm 6.35mm split is clean as a whistle.

both android z fold 7 and ifruit 17 pm - using included cable sampling off youtube, no cracks or other anomalies.

I heard back from Akai support - just sharing here for anyone else. Hopefully this gets sorted in a future update. I was researching and I'm not 100% sure but I think it is due to Android OS outputting 48k sample rate.

They offered me a free plugin or expansion pack lol.

"After further feedback, it appears that there is an in-compatibility problem when sampling from Android devices over USB-C. Whilst we expect USB-C sampling feature to work on most phones, due to the wide variety of devices available, some may not be fully compatible.

We’re actively collecting feedback and sharing this with our development team to review this behaviour. Until this is addressed, you can still use an analog audio connection to record from Android devices.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused."

Also make sure you don’t have record through knob effects turned on. I’ve got mine turned on with vinyl sim, so I have a crackle because of that, but not when it’s turned off, I’m on an older Android phone using usb c.

again, no issues with the Samsung z fold 7. im still on shipped firmware. ifruit 17pm is fine as well. because Android os is so fragmented, this can cause issues with compatibility with other products.
