v2 is not compatible.

This is one of the things you have to weigh and consider while staying on v2.

NI was and is much more than Maschine.

Sadly all of NI's glory lies in the past (like Massive).

I get that Maschine may not have been the root cause of NI's failures, but it was definately a strong component.

NI is well known for many applications but I would say arguably Maschine, Kontakt, Traktor were the most successful product lines for NI, and when one of the pillars of popularity falters it has a domino effect.

I have to admit that I didn't follow much of NI's hardware endevours.

For me it got fishy when the new plugins started to be endeless iterations of "hybrid synths", ie some samples beefed up with synth layers.

And ouf course the fact that they needed (?) to buy Plugin Alliance and iZotope.

exactly, and an other old akai related proverb is; "only buy the unit if it has the features you desire now, not features you desire that are being promised for a later date"

I got my money's worth having an OG live right out the gate... i bought it for those features... akai threw quite a few bones our way that was quite welcomed. The thing is though, that v3 atmosphere is not really for me at this point so i passed.... but i am okay with that because it has all been bonus content since launch and i never on my life expected my mpc to get supported for longer than 9 months out the gate.

however, to be honest it don't run properly anymore... i started getting reboot loops and random power downs after owning it for 9 years..... it is no longer in the reliable category when it comes to playing shit live. my 60, and all my other mpcs and akai samplers are still like day 1.

Akai won’t be killing anyone if they have no units to sell lol.

I'm still enraged by people continuing to compare the MPC Sample to the 60/3000 etc... *no*... while it might share *some* things with older MPCs... it's not a future classic... it doesn't have the "legendary" sound of these old devices... it's not an SP404 mk2 killer...

it's a solid device sure... but the messaging/marketing is so weird to me.
