I have recently been experiencing some major probs with Ableton and the Live 3. Ableton hangs up on startup trying to initialize audio inputs/outputs & then disabling mdi ports upon another startup after nuking the 1st. Ableton doesnt close all the way or release/reset drivers for the live 3. my launchpad mini is unusable now cuase it was conflicting with the midi ports from the live 3. Windows was confused and was using another generic driver and its causing a huge mess and creating ghost entries in my device manager. Im using windows and ive used claude code to write scripts and fi the prob but now its just a endless loop.

it is known that microsoft introduced a new windows midi service that has conflicts and locks up entirely. I know this is alot but has anyone had any issues with their ableton/live 3 setup after recent updates? Im trying my best to fix this but wanted to see if not the only person here.

it's one of the security updates that broke it for me, need to find a screenshot with a number.
I'll get back to you...
EDIT:
for me it was 2026-03 Security Update (KB5079473) (26200.8037)
installed on 15/03/26. It is one of those which don't need reboot to apply so I've noticed that quite quickly as it applied itself while I was writing audio related code and suddenly everything that's related to asio and midi ceased to respond. Projucer, Ableton, Reaper, Audio Plugin Host etc... everything been freezing upon boot/initialization. Luckily it clicked with me that 15 minutes prior to that, my laptop went full retard mode spinning its fans which usually means a heavy microslop/chromium activity. Went into logs and voila... a recent update - uninstalled it and it works till today, it even appears that it installed itself again at some point but correctly this timne

while I can get most of the major apps (kicad, blender, davinci resolve, creality print, inkscape etc...) on linux, there's a lot of all of homebrewed, small, task specific apps which are not mission critical but helpful af and I can't get replacements on mac or linux. I've got two other Linux machines one of each i'm using daily, equal to winblows and a mac (which I don't use at all and I despise it) but my windblows machine is is setup in a way that I don't need to install or uninstall anything anymore... at least until it eventually dies or bill gates decide that its not worthy to run his system anymore lol.
On top of it I have such pile of mess on it that it's far more easy to buy a cheap external usb monitor on amazon and hook it up that clean what's on the other desktops lololol. Not to worry, my linux mirrors my windows in 75%-80% already so I'll be fine when it eventually dies :)
