MPC Live 2 (Firmware v3.7.1) - Routing FX returns to Submix?

Hi all,

Is there a reason Akai have not coded the OS to allow FX returns to be freely routed into the available submix options?

This is a standard feature that all DAWs have, and analogue/digital consoles.

Just a guess: so you can’t load too many plug-ins in a row?

Lo Fly Dirt won’t run more than four instances on standalone even if plenty of memory and CPU left

Even on my tiny digital XR12 micxer that can otherwise run 4 FX between inserts and busses (half of an XR32) i sometimes have to route an aux back into another input with a patch cable to stack more effects.

My guess, to avoid any chance of feeding fx into themselves. A pretty common creative practice but can easily go wrong, and possibly slower to correct in the UI…so cut it off at the pass, so to speak.

That’s not really possible unless you route the FX return into itself. If for example, you send a track or pad into FX return 1, and the same track is assigned to a sub mix, routing the FX return into the same sub mix will not cause a feed back loop.

To avoid this they could just code the OS to prevent routing a FX return into itself.

Very common to route FX returns into sub mixes also known as groups.
