MPC Sample triggers people

I dont recall people saying the MPC 500 was a toy or being so angry about that product, but MPC sample really seems to rile certain people up.

I noticed when viewing content on IG from the likes of Ski Beats, Dibase, Jermain Dupri, Pete Rock & Erykah Badu there were always people in the coments saying its a toy and Akai must be paying u to promote, and those artists was saying nah we like the product, even if its called a toy.

Curious to know why people think that there is so much resentment towards the MPC Sample and why the MPC 500 did not evoke the same "its a toy response"

I think they're getting the hardware for free, obviously, but I'm not that certain they're getting paid.

Anyway, Erykah Badu's review seemed honest. She was using the device and said something like she likes it because it's like a little lab for experimentation. Jazzy Jeff, on the other hand, just posted a picture and said it was great.

Toy or not, looks like an interesting device. It depends more on whose hands it ends. KO ii is even more toyish. It's more about what you can do with it.

The 500 got waaaaay more backlash than the Sample. 500 was a flop and called out by many people as a toy. People will always hate on new gear or certain MPC's. This time there actually were a lot of people waiting for a smaller slimmed down MPC, hence all the hype. Akai definitely played a huge role in this, snowballing into an overhyped sensation on social media. Think that also may have triggered people.

it seems mpc500 was being called a toy, I stand corrected, it must of slipped my mind.

the spec of the mpc sample is the same as the gen 1 mpc's, so it purely based on size a look that detractors discount it as a toy.
