Colony of ants in device

That sucked. Vacuumed as many out as I could, put paper towel sprayed with bug spray inside ssd bay after removing drive which also had ants under it. Now it’s in a sealed trash bag to kill any remaining, after which I’ll disassemble more.

They seemed to love the little gap between ssd and access plate especially.

Wife laughed her ass off at me running back and forth with parts and bug spray. Shes a good girl and felt sorry hoped my gear would be okay.

Sorry for chuckling at your pain, OP. That's pretty darn wild! Curious to learn if your ant-remediation pays off?

That is the EXACT video to share. BTW - saw him last year in OKC. I am very pleased to report it was a BALLER show (although I did go in with expectations of having my childhood dreams crushed).

I'm glad to hear that - I saw him last year too, and he was sadly having an off night. I was gutted.

The previous times I saw him (1982, 2010, 2011) he was **** fantastic. Opened the show with Plastic Surgery in 2010, so no easy-listening greatest hits affair either (though those were in there too). So overall, my childhood dreams remain intact too!

Took a peek in bag a day later, only saw three crawling around will wait another dar or so. Not going to be happy if there are dead ants in the screens (MPC X) but will have to make an ant song I guess.

Still a few ants crawled out at Day 1.5. Back in the bag it goes. Fighting desire to collect sugar for my wife, I have work to do.

Still ants in there! Back in the bag and a trip to the hardware store tomorrow for something better than bug spray.

Although I’m tempted to try the “moat” method and do a time-lapse video. But I don’t have a great place to do it and don’t want the ants to make a new home in, well, my home.

Lesson learned: don’t let used Red Bull cans sit in your studio for too long.

I had a bunch of ants in my Focusrite scarlet a few years back. I put it out in the sun, and that killed them off. Probably not good for the MPC. I do the opposite with my sugar jar (one of the lids doesn't seal right and I use for my coffee jar, but sometime they get switched), so I put it in the fridge for a while, then scoop them out. You could try putting the MPC in a sealed bag and in the fridge.

Ant's are a major head ache here, so I picked up some Japanese ant killer.



Works on all ants, not just Japanese ants

But a friend of mine gave me Vietnamese ant killer, And I refill that with 2 drops that in the old Japanese ant killer boxes to keep is safe from my cats.


They both work the same way by being taken back to the colonony and killing the queen and lavae. By the next day they are generally gone. When I get more ants again, they are a different species, sop it starts again.

In the UK, we only have a few types in the house, in VN, we get loads of different types, some are hard to see, some massive, and some super fast with long legs.

Is this real?! What are ants doing in your MPCs?! Is there something inside that attracts them? I get them in the car from time to time when I leave some crumbs on the floor, but not my gear.
