MPC Sample external sync appears to degrade audio fidelity during playback.
Tested configurations:
• Ableton Live external MIDI clock
• USB sync
• Sync In
• 44.1kHz sample rate
• Multiple buffer settings
• External power supply
• No MIDI feedback routing
• Analog audio outputs
• Minimal CPU load/no FX
Observed behavior:
When external sync is enabled, playback quality degrades significantly and sounds low-resolution/aliased (“8-bit” style digital distortion). Pops and crackling increase substantially as BPM increases. At very low BPMs (example: 30 BPM), the distortion is greatly reduced.
When sync is stopped, audio immediately returns to normal fidelity.
This behavior appears directly tied to incoming MIDI clock processing load and seems reproducible across both USB sync and Sync In methods.
