Who is paying £100 for this stuff? I like tefty, but seriously I am not hearing anything on that saturator that you cannot already achieve in many ways with other MPC plugins. He says he really likes saturators, but how many do you actually need inside an MPC? We're definitely at 'collector' stage with these plugins, people are just buying them for the sake of it. Surely we are reaching 'saturation' point (sorry).

And seriously, claiming that the 'regular' $299 price is 'pretty signficant', and you should jump in quick to great the great deal. He knows full well that these RRPs are made up to allow them to offer 'big deals' at various points throughout the year. In a few months time these will all be $29 each plus an extra 15% promo code. Generally I like his vids, but it would be nice to see these guys call out Akai on all this nonsense once in a while, like Conan does (and what a surprise, Akai never sends him any stuff for review...).

Meanwhile the internet has gone nuts over Tape-16 which is essentially a featureless DAW mimicking a multitrack tape setup. I have a Tascam model 12 that can multitrack straight to wavs on an SD card so could do the same thing which originally I thought would be old school and neat, but I never work that way. Oddly this never seemed to be an internet challenge thing but T16 is hype now. Why not spend a little more and get a real mixer?

Maybe I’m the enemy to haters of low effort plug-ins in mpc but I’ve bought about three quarters of all the stuff and my only regret multivand filterbank. The stuffs not expensive on sale especially in bundles, and you don’t need any of it anyways. Putting Pro Pack behind a paywall, that should be pitchfork worthy. But yep bought that also and don’t regret.

My thoughts exactly. Zoom and Tascam have been releasing digital multitrack recorders for decades... What's the point of the T16, apart of looking cool?

I mean in electronic music at least, a professional sound and a non professional sound could be the difference between getting a track released. So its less about the listener to some degree and more about standards.

A rabbit hole of a conversation but quality does matter. But agree spending $$$ on crappy emulations / romplers is just targeting ppl who think they need these things .

Saturation for me is only used on the master chain and definitely not on my MPC. Usually I will master the final wav rather than just on a master track. And im def not a pro but the last thing I'd want to do is master properly on an MPC. Just not the right tool for this choice for a number of reasons. Just because you can doesnt mean you should.

Tape echo is prob the more appealing effect for most as its a classic emulation. But god the prices are such a rip off, even on sale. Such a shame as with all these new software companies they inherited via the NI merge, I hope they come out with a more affordable model. They would make far more money that way in the long run.

The may be jacking up these prices to justify paying for a low price subscription. I fuc*in hope I'm wrong! I wish they just have fair prices & not all these fake sales all year round.

I'm not a pro either, but AFAIK saturation can be used on any track. Probably depends on the type of saturation and what you want to achieve.
