Low Frequency Static

I’ve noticed since day one that samples with low frequencies like Bass / 808s / kick drums will have static… and it’ll do this at random sections of any sample of these characteristics.. it doesn’t happen with anything else of mid frequencies on up. Who else noticed? Is this something that can get into the ears of the developers? Surely they probably already know…Because it annoying to hear that crackle whenever you hit an 808 I’m on the latest firmware but it was doing this with original factory firmware too. Thanks!

It is very sensitive to low frequencies so it will clip the output when playing bass and subby kicks, especially if they are normalised. Have you tried adjusting the level of the affected pad?

I did and it helped, but I had to turn it down significantly and feel like it’s lower than I’d like it to be.. especially since higher frequency samples can be loud as heck without clipping.. is this normal behavior with their bigger machines as well? Or is it just with the Sample? Thanks for the reply.

Just the MPC Sample, I've loaded various kits that all work perfectly in the bigger MPCs, but on the MPC Sample I almost always have to drop the level of the kick and bass pads.

I have a feeling the actual culprit is the global compressor… that thing is pretty terrible… it needs better tuning or something because not only does it mess up the low end, but it pumps terribly.. even when you tweak it to its minimum it’s still just too sensitive. I really hope they fix that because now that seems like a huge flaw in the system.. but test that on your end and see if you come to the same conclusion.

Is there a global headroom adjustment? Maybe an all pad volume adjustment to lower all the volumes until it doesn’t clip?

Is it only on the internal speaker or on the overall output as well?

Nah.. it’s on the overall output. I barely use the internal speaker now that I know mostly what I’m doing on it.. does it have an overall headroom adjustment on the compressor ? Yeah it’s called the [Amount] but it has to be so low that the compressor at that level [4.64%], isn’t doing anything and is better to just bypass it altogether. I think the devs have to calibrate it or something… because it’s pretty useless at this point and not only because of the static but also the excessive pumping at its minimum settings.
